MY Servers

this year i installed server more than i installed pc on last year.. i take more than to install a PC because i install latest patch and updates.. i take much time at beginning so i won't have headache later.. PC problem and broke down will be lesser.. there is something that i found unhealthy in this company people tend to work hard rather than smart.. they prefer restart Server rather than find a solution to minimize Server downtime.. will a lot of new technologies and hardware price reducing it is common that server uptime should be 99.99% everywhere.. the Server uptime rate here is how much? let me calculate first.. So how to reduce Server uptime? a proper maintenance..

update to latest firmware and software updates is important because manufacturer don't come out the update just for fun.. the update will fix some of the software and hardware bugs that they found out or highlighted by end-user.. (i remember last time i bought a special com 1 to vga cable from special hardware shop to update haiya TV firmware) the next thing is to fine-tuning the Server setting to make it run faster or added stability of the Server..

after all that the next thing is doing regular maintenance on the Server.. this is by looking at the Server Event Log at least once every week to check on any error encountered by the Server and if found find a solution to quickly fix the error.. just imagine you do a proper maintenance on your car.. one day you rushing time you drive at 140km/h.. you surprised that the car is running smoothly even though the car horsepower is very little only.. then imagine you never do maintenance on your car.. then one day you drive at 135km/h.. the car broke down (゚ー゚; the same thing applied here.. if proper maintenance on the Server is done the chances of Server broke down and hang is reduced.. the Server response time might be slower but it still stable and didn't hang..

看到了-anyo的电脑系统,他们以为haiya的电脑系统也是差不多一样的.. 是吗?

离开继父后.. 我不可以在别的电器公司做工.. 如果给继父知道就完蛋... 这几天都会经过这个anyo仓库觉得有点不对.. 不想看... 还是偷看一下 比一比anyo和haiya的产品... Round 1 TV : 不用说那些Technical的东西,haiya在PC.Com和HWM有拿过奖那已经足够了... 多加一句..比LG更清... Round 2 WM : 你有听过不必肥皂的洗衣机吗? 只有haiya有... Round 3 Freeze : 没有看到anyo有高贵四门的冰箱... Round 4 Air Cond : 绕了一圈没有看到.. 最让人吐血的东西竟然找不到.. 有set有indoor有outdoor有panel... PO有问题SO有问题Stock有问题Invoice有问题CN有问题Report有问题.. 什么都有问题... 要maintain可说是超不容易...
你们太非了吧,把我跟这样的公司比...

today is PC Fair last day.. no matter what happen must go there.. a lot of people ask me to help them to buy PC stuff..

Last two years my (previous) company is the official sponsor of maa awards 2006.. so what do i get? nothing much.. just the maa voting party tickets.. (i can get it also by print it out from maa website..) cannot meet and take photos with the artists.. how about Mtv VJ? can try.. but the security guard is watching..

(1000 Monsters Attack)

There is one thing that I say to stepfather before I leave. Knowledge I can be transfer, but Experience I cannot transfer. I think he will understand it. If you think I must be life a good life in haiya, had a lot of experience, drive that kind of car. Is not look as simple as you think.

That's why the bad people keep on thinking.
Q : How come I throw rubbish to make him suffer but it doesn't seem to have any effect on him.
A : Get a time machine and come to haiya and I show you the definition of suffer.

If looking at capability you might thing the transaction is 1000 times lesser when I in haiya. But if you look at the risk it is 1000 times higher. If let say system down for half hour, it is small items so only 1 lorry will get affected. But if in haiya, 3 lorry get affected and the loses is 1000 times higher. Imagine 1000 times risk put down to your head. I almost died few times.

No matter what happen the system cannot be down. Is not like nvm.. got IT staffs to do support if the system down. It's more towards.. please do the necessary so that the system will not go down. In case system down system recovery need to be ready within 15 minutes because it is already affected 1 lorry.

Sometimes we will do anything just for 1 order such as use the showroom set to deliver to customer due to no stock. We got this order need to be delivered before 2pm but Credit Check block in the SAP. I can't help you, you need wait for finance to unblock the order. But.. the customer is big boss friend. That's the time where my superpower comes in. Give me the details I'll do manual interface in the system first then you do reconcile later on.

when you company billboard is display all the major highway and famous shopping mall, and with tv spot and ad on tv and radio.. everyone want to look for you.. B2Be and JP1 just to name a few... sometime in order to avoid them.. please tell them that i busy and ask them to drop their company profile and namecard.. i can't believe my current company buy barcode scanner from that company, they went to my company twice but i didn't layan them.. beside that you have the power to arrange a meeting with them then "put aeroplane" (meaning not showing up in chinese) he is not in the office now.. please come again tomorrow...

how many product your company sell per day? let me think.. around --- product per day.. that's so little... f&n can sell million of product per day.. it is a difference thing.. we sell 1 lcd tv is equivalent to sell 1 thousand of coke per day... oh ya you are correct..

if i take their product, they put our company name in their company profile.. if not.. sorry not now, maybe next time... and they will not given up until you say don't want, i don't need it..

it is the most slumber interview i ever attend.. i go interview for a renowned printer company.. and i forgot to bring my resume.. they also bengang liao.. quicky go and find the softcopy and printout the resume.. (they are printer company rite? don't say your printer got problem cannot print out) and it is the best interview i ever attend.. i cannot find that type of interview in HR Book.. it is yam cha interview... it like.. come let yam cha to do interview... i heard that type of interview before.. it is more on to find out the personality of a person rather then to find out the knowledge and skill of a person.. knowledge and skill of the person, that one you can get it on the resume rite?

and guess what? i been chosen.. i very happy.. so i throw letter.. if other people throw letter.. big boss will let them go.. but for me.. i am so unlucky.. he don't allow me to go.. i was surprised.. all the while lemon and coughman always say the untrue bad thing about me to big boss i though big boss will be very cautious about me but actually is 1 side in left ear 1 side out right ear.. please tell that (printer) company that you cannot join them.. if you scared let me called them...

time to get know more about him.. i just teach him a bit about fork and spoon and he didn't disappoint me with his skills.. but about the cooking nasi goreng thing, he still fresh so when the nasi goreng too salty he starting to get panic.. how ar? look closely, try take out as much as salt as you can...

after few days i know him then i realize he is a flirt.. wah.. you know what? BAT.. that one that situated beside us.. is damn cun.. i wish i could enter.. you are a smoker? want to buy cheap staff purchase cigar? go to duty free shop is oso quite cheap.. no laa.. they're damn rich... (haih.. money.. money.. money.. only thinking about money only.. so disappointing...)

He got do programming before.. He know how to use Linux.. and He likes networking.. so ok or not? can give me some time to think ar?? he almost fulfill all the requirement.. i'm a bit worried.. he is freshie.. but i cannot be so picky.. if not i will regret later..

so.. who are going to train me? have a seat.. you?? let's get started.. if you all think i will teach real IT kung-fu you will get very disappointed. too bad i watch too much karate kid when i was young, instead of teach real kung fu, mr. miyagi teach how to renovate his house.. let's assume operations are nasi goreng and IT are fork and spoon. today i going to teach you how to cook nasi goreng ayam special.. huh??

on the next day.. today i going to teach something very tough.. good i can learn something great today.. it is.. how to cook nasi goreng pattaya.. huh??? why not, in order to make a good fork or spoon you need to know how to cook nasi goreng so that people can senduk nasi better and the fork or spoon won't spoil easily.. and 1 day you didn't do IT already also no problem because you know how to cook a very good nasi goreng.. my student complain.. i just say it will benefit you 1 day...

Apprentice - Part I

when i leave haiya that time 1 thing that i cannot forget is conducting interviews. interview is like looking for the right one. too many candidates don't know need to select which one. that why need to have interview to get to know the candidates better. to cut time because most of interviewee will take spoof leave in order to come for interview so if change the interview time then interviewee will not show up for interview. please inform him today slot is full, ask him to come tomorrow. he said he couldn't make it tomorrow and want to cancel the interview appointment

to save time i prepared questionaire for interviewee to fill-up before the interview session. if they score a very low mark, sure kena one. (i almost make the interviewee cried for scoring low mark). people called it "stress interview", it is a test of how bad you want this job. don't just conduct interview, don't forget your mission - finding the most suitable candidates. any more candidates? this one.. he will come tomorrow. then mc2 ask a very stupid question - can you stay until we find the right candidate? engine at 30 'C go up to 60 'C. what?? another Mr. 60 'C saw it and come. cold-down cold-down cold-down.

i leave because cannot tahan lemon always say there's a lot of better one out there. but when i leave, where are all those better one? then i realized that i very hard to replaced, i become speechless. if i leave system got a lot of problem later on is not my fault and is not your fault also. that is the price of lemon should pay, for causing a lot of problem. the scary part is mc2 give me the access of all MY IT staff db to headhunt people. you call-up these people whether they interested to come or not, i don't want to call. know how good is MY IT staffs is really make me very hard to sleep.

Walking Down Memory Lane

After thousands of applicant applying.. and the job goes to… Juiko... thank you.. i want to thank my colleagues who help me a lot.. i want to thank my lecturer who teach me a lot... my mum.. my dad.. my sis.. my bro.. my friends.. thank you so much!

Year 2005.. after Labour Day I’m joining this company.. there is a lot problems here and there is a lot of things need to be done… (am I coming to a wrong place?)

My superior.. Mr. T give a lot of things for me to start on.. first is to do Hardware and Software Inventory list.. then do Hardware and Software upgrade.. then also liase with vendor e.g. ERP system vendor..

3 month later we are going to moving to a bigger office so on that time I also in charge of setting up of Network Points and also involve in setup security, alarms, CCTV.. I remember that I need to go to new office a few times to check on that progress..

Prior in moving to new office I found out the network is poorly configured and using D-link Wireless Router (the worse router at that time) so I proposed to add-in 16 port Switch and Zyxel Wireless Router..

Few week before moving to the office.. Mr. T say to me.. I want to tell you something and I want to tell you this first.. After moving to the new office I will leaving this company.. Take Care.. Take Care? How could you leave my like that…

Then on July we move to the new office. On first few week I need to stay back very late on setup the networking. There are few time that my mum called and asked.. Where are at you now? At office lor.. What Time already? Got a lot of things to do.. Don’t want to come back then don’t come back..

There is one day that I need to sleep overnight at Office.. because to reformat and reinstall the Server.. So how is it like sleep at Office? Very Nice Aircond.. hahaha…

And on August the new FM come in.. Mr. C.. and his birthday is almost same with me..

One thing that I like about the new FM is that he is willing to propose the Management in investing more in IT.. The first thing is to have barcode scanning system, the second thing is modify the ERP system, the third thing is implement the Customer Service system.. So.. meeting meeting meeting and non-stop meeting…

In the meantime.. boss son is working in an IT company.. so he ask his dad to buy his companies product even through it is.. cannot use one.. it is the biggest headache for me.. to implement the product – the B2B system…

whoa.. 2006.. whoa.. the first that I need to do is make the Barcode system running..
Wow, warehouse got so many goods, can finish scan all the things ar? Slowly lor…

and not to forget.. the B2B system.. where I need to ask salesman to encourage the dealer to use our B2B system.. even worst due to poor response, boss want me to go out to the dealer place and teach them on how to use the B2B system..

so I with B2B system people go outside conduct computer lesson to dealers..

after that, need to implement another system.. Customer Service System… (don’t want to talk more about this system..) a lot of operations issues cause a lot of problem in system implementation…

But anyway I get promoted on end of year 2006..

2007.. a very important year… we are going to migrate the current ERP system to SAP system… my ex-colleague say able to use SAP promise a bright future because all the big company use this system.. I know.. a lot of my friend keep asking how the SAP system looks like because they never used it…

10 SAP consultant from China came in and I try my best to help them to make sure that we are able to implement the system in short time as possible.. other companies need 6 months to implement it, and we need to finish it in 2 months…
Time for Superstar trivia.. did you know who she is? Na Ying.. correct.. they? S.H.E.. correct.. what about this guy? this is very easy, Jay Chow! This is too easy, what about this guy? let me see, don't know wor.. You don't know, he is a very popular artist in China.. Sorry really don't know who he is... (wow you guys so free ar?)

Before the implementation, a lot of managers talk to boss that I had problem implement the SAP system.. but boss feel very happy that what they say is all wrong!
Boss want you to join us for dinner.. (wow I got a stepfather..) :-)

At this time.. 2 crazy managers had evil plan..next week system go live already we must do something.. (what happen? really crazy.. don’t want to write..)

After SAP go live we buy a lot of things to upgrade the systems.. I remember I need to go PC Fair and tapao a lot of RAMs..

Beside that, because of implement new system sure still got some problem so need to do some system modification to fix the problem.. In the meantime also do a lot of system interface..

But, in the end no need to go.. but since I already had plan of leaving this company I throw letter.. but my stepfather don’t want to accept it.. so I promise to stay for a while… but then the next week.. someone broke into our office and stole some manager notebooks.. alamak.. I suspect is internal people… and they want to make my stepfather think I am the thief… (scary.. so desperate want to separate me and my stepfather until need to do this kind of bad things…)

Around October.. we got add some new modules on the warehouse barcode system and the software people need come to my office a lot of times to do the system testing.. People thought that… She very nice what, can consider… Don’t want, too old… :-P

Then, another shocking news.. I want to tell you something and I want to tell you this first.. ???.. Mr. C is about to leaving.. it is like losing a brother.. faint.. if he is leaving who will take care of me when I kena buli by the evil managers…

He is replaced by Mr.C2 which is semua pun tak tau punya orang.. lagi pening…

2008.. I get promoted (again).. I just had 1 more step to become manager.. that is a very bad things… because the evil manager giving non-stop attack.. don't want me to climb the ladder.. somemore Mr.C2 tak boleh pakai.. .

So I do my last project which is do system link with branches and after that leave the company…
